Passing Game
Jackson was afforded ample time and space (ATS) on 8 of 35 (23%) drop backs resulting in a pass/sack. With ATS, he was 7 of 8 for 109 yards (13.6 YPP).
He delivered the ball before pressure could develop (BOQ) 8 times (23%) with 7 complete for 58 yards (7.3 YPP). He was pressured 19 times (54%), on which he completed 7 of 12 passes for 77 net yards (4.1 YPP) including 7 sacks. In total, Jackson outperformed his opportunity set by 50 yards (actual 233, expected 183), which is 1.4 yards per play above expectation.
Jackson also ran Stanley and Faalele out of a shared pressure.
By number of pass rushers:
3: 1 play, -4 yards, 1 sack
4: 16 plays, 74 net yards, 4.6 YPP, 4 sacks
5: 10 plays, 93 net yards, 9.3 YPP, 1 sack
6: 6 plays, 56 net yards, 9.3 YPP, 1 sack
7+: 2 plays, 25 yards, 12.5 YPP
The Ravens used 23 set blocks and 11 chip blocks spread among 35 plays resulting in a pass or sack, 0.97 per play. This large commitment of eligible receivers is more significant considering the prevalence of set blockers. Kolar was used 8 times (6 sets, 2 chips), Hill 8 times (5 sets, 3 chips), Andrews 8 times (4 sets, 4 chips), Henry 5 times (4 sets, 1 chip) and Mitchell-Paden 4 times (all sets), accounting for all but 1 of such assignments.
The OL grades were surprisingly good for a night where the run game sputtered and there were 7 sacks. That’s largely because the Lions used numbers (4.80 pass rushers per play) and manufactured some free runs by scheme. Both the 54% aggregate pressure rate and the 19/8 ratio of pressures to ATS are wholly unacceptable but that was not entirely the fault of the OL.
