Extended Treatment

With time lost to travel, we have only extended treatment for some of the Ravens stars this week.

Malaki Starks

  • (Q1, 12:51): On 3rd/6, he worked off bubble from Green to tackle RB Achane on orbit RR2 to force FG
  • (Q2, 3:43): He hustled to clean up Gilman MT on Waddle PR24 (14 + 10) [4]
  • (Q2, 2:58): He again worked off bubble from Green to tackle WR M. Washington RR3 reverse
  • (Q3, 2:42): On 3rd/9, he was bearing down on WR Westbrook-Ikhine who dropped ball at 6 yards
  • (Q4, 6:44): On 2nd/10, he had center field coverage of WR T. Washington and collected his first INT 30 yards [2] by outleaping. His 30-yard return was negated by Hamilton IBB.

Malaki had his best game as a pro, including his first interception.  He had contributions to 3 drive-ending plays.

Travis Jones

  • (Q1, 14:15): He drove LG Savaiinaea back into RB Achane to blow up RM-1 cleaned up by Van Noy
  • (Q2, 14:10): He overran containment of WR M. Washington reverse left which helped allow RL7
  • (Q2, 13:22): He was double teamed by LG Savaiinaea then LT Paul as part of RB Achane RR6
  • (Q2, 4:17): On 3rd/7, he bulled RG Strange into cone for pressure but Tagovailoa converted PR14 to Waddle
  • (Q2, 1:11): On 3rd/2, he penetrated past LG Savaiinaea to blow up Achane RM0 cleaned up by Smith to bring up 4th/2
  • (Q2, 0:24): He beat LT Paul outside after initial double team for pressure as Tagovailoa completed PL2 to Achane
  • (Q3, 8:03): On 1st/10, he was second to arrive on S-6 shared with Urban
  • (Q3, 7:20): On 2nd/16, he stood up then threw off LG Savaiinaea to tackle Achane RR-1
  • (Q3, 3:31): He cleaned up Hamilton retracking of Achane for RM1
  • (Q4, 14:02): He bulled then beat RG Strange inside for near PD (no pressure) on PR9 to TE Dulcich

Travis had his best game of the season with a balanced effort vs run and pass.  He led the Ravens in pressure contributions with 3 and was again on the field for most passing downs.  He is getting more opportunities for 1-on-1 pass rush as a 3-tech.  When he is at NT (on passing downs), there is more focus on getting him blocked, but Orr’s frequent use of sim pressure may be an attempt to generate more 1-on-1 matchups for him.

Kyle Hamilton

  • (Q1, 6:59): He penetrated unblocked off ORS to tackle Achane RM-3
  • (Q1, 6:24): On 3rd/7, he blitzed and beat Achane for pressure through left A-gap but Tagovailoa converted PR9 to Dulcich
  • (Q2, 14:10): He diagnosed and blew up M. Washington reverse left at -7 (MT?) subsequently overrun by Jones and Urban to allow RL7
  • (Q2, 11:30): On 3rd/16, he blitzed unblocked through left A-gap for pressure as Achane PL5 (-4 + 9) [2] was tackled by Smith in open field to force punt
  • (Q2, 5:37): He exploited initial penetration from Jenkins and Urban to tackle Achane RR0 and was injured on the play
  • (Q2, 5:04): On 2nd/15, after false start, he returned to shed block from WR Wilson to tackle M. Washington PL8
  • (Q2, 1:08): On 4th/2, he had tight coverage of Achane 18 yards [5] in end zone as Tagovailoa overthrew for turnover on downs
  • (Q3, 3:31): He penetrated unblocked off OLS and his MT retracked Achane cleaned up by Jones RM1
  • (Q4, 12:27): He had just beaten block on ORS as Tagovailoa rolled left and intentionally grounded ball prior to pressure
  • (Q4, 6:44): He was flagged for illegal blindside block on WR T. Washington during Starks’s INT return

Kyle was party to 2 drive-ending plays and finished playing every snap (missed FS with injury).

Marlon Humphrey

  • (Q1, 5:42): He delivered PD reaching across WR Waddle 13 yards [4] which was nearly intercepted by Buchanan
  • (Q2, 12:03): He slipped in coverage of Waddle on PR36 negated by phantom tripping flag
  • (Q2, 3:43): He was beaten inside by Waddle for PR24 (14 + 10) [4] including MT by Gilman at 15 yards
  • (Q2, 2:30): He and Gilman both tried to strip and MT at 13 yards on Achane RR15
  • (Q3, 4:11): He was beaten inside by WR Westbrook-Ikhine for PM17 (10 + 7) [3]
  • (Q4, 13:22): On 4th/1, he had excellent coverage of WR Wilson PR7 (5 + 2) [4] but was unable to strip/PD
  • (Q4, 11:39): On 4th/11, he delivered big hit on WR Waddle but then lost coverage on PR13 (12 + 1) [5] conversion
  • (Q4, 11:11): On 1st/10, he stripped TE Conner then recovered fumble as Buchanan was tackling
  • (Q4, 6:48): He dislodged ball from behind on Westbrook-Ikhine for PD 8 yards [3]

Marlon had a takeaway and was in position to generate a turnover on downs but for a fine play by Wilson.  He had some coverage gaffes, but he’s been focused on generating fumbles the last 2 weeks.

Alohi Gilman

  • (Q1, 14:56): He tackled Waddle on PL20 (13 + 7) [2] caught between him and Buchanan in zone
  • (Q1, 9:46): He was late in coverage, overran play, then returned as second man for FF/FR as Buchanan tackled WR T. Washington
  • (Q1, 8:21): He MT at 11 yards on Achane jet toss PM19 (-4 + 23) [3]
  • (Q1, 7:42): He tackled (near miss) Achane RL6
  • (Q2, 3:43): He had MT at 15 yards as part of Waddle PR24 (14 + 10) [4]
  • (Q2, 2:30): He and Humphrey both tried to strip Achane at 13 yards and MT on RR15
  • (Q3, 0:19): He MT at 5 yards on M. Washington PL28 (3 + 25) [1]

Aside from the FF/FR, Gilman had a very poor game, including 4 of his 45 career MTs (9%) accumulated over more than 3,000 career snaps.  If given the opportunity to trade 42 yards after missed tackle for a single takeway, I’d take it every tie.

Brent Urban

  • (Q2, 14:10): He overran RL7 reverse by WR M. Washington
  • (Q2, 5:37): He stood up RG Strange to blow up Achane RR0 cleaned up by Hamilton
  • (Q3, 8:03): He bulled past LG Savaiinaea inside for initial pressure on S-6 shared with Jones
  • (Q4, 13:26): He beat RG Strange outside for pressure as Smith dropped room-service INT 5 yards [4]
  • (Q4, 12:24): On 3rd/12, he pursued Tagovailoa to sideline on RL1 (essentially S+1) forced to slide by Awuzie
  • (Q4, 6:44): He bulled RT Borom into Tagovailoa for late QH as he threw INT to Starks on Dolphins last offensive play

This was one of Brent’s finest games as a Raven
