Ken,
Tough game to break down so soon after watching it go down in the rain in Foxborough. Had the Ravens found a way to win it it would have been the second time John Harbaugh defeated Belichick’s Pats in consecutive games in his coaching career. Only a handful of coaches can claim consecutive wins along with Harbaugh, it’s Shanahan, Dungy, Kubiak, and Ryan that come to mind. The Pats took away the best aspect of the Ravens Defense and focused their attack on the weakest aspect. The ILB’s were targeted in both the run and pass attack. This is a game that clearly had the focus and attention of the Patriots coaching staff after their primetime defeat in Baltimore last season. The Pats started by running between the tackles then shifted to running around the edge and then started to mix in play action passing designed to force the ILB’s into pass coverage. It was impressive that the Ravens defense managed to stop them for the final quarter of the game. I have to say the onslaught of heavy rain and wind in the waning minutes made it seem that the Ravens were just not meant to win this game.
