Just one thought I had after listening. Will the offense be better this week as they not have tough practise against our covid depleted D?
Answering with the advantage of hindsight…Yes the offense will be fine.
Seriously, I am very encouraged by the 2nd half against the Colts and in particular that the Ravens were able to ovrecome so many obstacles to win. How do you feel about the Colts game being a turning point for the 2020 Ravens?
Ken,
What a season this is turning out to be. After weeks of noise about Boykin not being on the same page and Lamar being too reliant on Brown, we get a game where Lamar looks elsewhere and finds some success and then we get the deleted tweet from Brown. It’s clear at this point that Brown is a problem from a team chemistry standpoint. While he did remove the tweet at his coach’s request, posting it shows him to be immature and focused only on himself and not the team. It is disappointing to see this turn of events but the events of past weeks has certainly foreshadowed this dynamic as a strong possibility. Lamar and our offensive line are better suited to operate through the running game using the passing game as a change of pace. Dismantling Pittsburgh’s defense with 265 yards of rushing was done with relative ease and Dobbins has proven to be that rare combination of speed, power, and instinct that defines talented NFL running backs.
Where to from here that is the question. With the OL injuries and the newly discovered discord amongst the WR’s, The way forward will be determined by how effectively the coaching staff navigates the team dynamic and puts the team on a course to succeed. Playing to our strengths, we showed we can move the ball and score on Pittsburgh’s defense one of the best in the NFL. If we can get Brown to think and act unselfishly and get the offense to run the game plan through the rushing attack, the rest of the season could be marked by the reemergence of the 2019 Ravens offense. If the bickering over targets lingers and distracts Lamar from the tasks at hand, the team will likely underperform on the offensive side of the ball which will eventually drag the defense down with it. It feels like this team has reached a turning point to me. I worry less about the loss of players to COVID protocol than I worry about the swift and effective resolution of this other issues.
